A Fresh Beginning

At some point in our lives, most of us find our situations so perilous that we are tempted to either take an easy out or give up. If we do struggle to find a way out, and we are unable to find one that is satisfactory, our own rash decisions can greatly compound our problems and leave us with a permanent disadvantage.

WE'CAN: A Neighborhood Celebration

I am ecstatic! In spirit, I am heading for a celebration that I could never even imagine happening a few years back when I witnessed a carload of thugs turn their car in a circle in the middle of the street while screaming death threats at my Latino neighbors. Never did my hopes and dreams and prayers reach such high aspirations as to imagine a coming together of the unique cultures on Harlan Street and Churchman Avenue in Indianapolis.

Reclaiming a Peaceful Spirit

I was not at peace: world events, our country's troubles, arguments around me were all disturbing my peace. My garden was where I was finding peacefulness and feeling God's closeness, but even my garden was being disturbed by too much rain. Some of the plants were surrendering to the endless rain and the waterlogged soil. Then, in the middle of a restless night, the message came:
