The Keys
- As I stand at my window I am thinking how easily amidst the endless details and problems of daily life we forget that Love is all there Is and I wish I knew how to help stop us from forgetting. As I think on this I reach into my fanny pack that I wear for running to pull out my hat. Without any reason to do so I also reach into the zipper pocket and pull out a set of keys.
I can't believe it. I thought I lost these keys a month ago or that someone else had taken them. And all along they have been with me. Last night I couldn't sleep. Yet once asleep a door slammed shut without waking me. And so I ask, how asleep have I been? What are the keys I believe I have lost because I have been asleep to them?
In all of our lives there appears to be countless things to do, a time frame to do them in, and consequences if we don't. It seems we must work for a living and have too little time for praying or playing. We are in debt either to circumstances, companies or individuals.
Love comes and goes, health waivers. Dreams are placed on hold, or buried beneath the cares of the world. Separation real or imagined keeps us from those we love. We are constantly and relentlessly bombarded with the belief that this folks - is life. Find joy in it somehow or just give up and get by. In this worldview we are asleep.
The keys, of course, are the keys of perception. So today instead of running I walk and consciously decide to shift my perception from the material perception that keeps us asleep to a Spiritual Perception. Beginning with the only thing we have "control" over I begin with my Perception Point of View.
I decide to walk with the point of view that all is Love and Infinite Intelligence. As I walk I become more aware of this Truth. I can see, hear, smell, taste and touch the evidence of love, but mostly I can feel the evidence of Love as the fabric of being and as I do so my State of Mind Perception relaxes and stops thinking "how" and becomes more "now".
A squirrel stops to talk to me, a leaf drops on my head, the sky is filled with dancing white clouds, the wind cools the air, people smile and say "hello", flowers nod as I pass, cars wait for me to cross the street and a quiet room and a means to write wait for me at the top of the stairs. Evidence of Love's provision isn't it?
There is amble evidence of Love's provision in every moment of every life. However, the worldview that there is not enough of anything relentlessly parades "examples" and "proofs" to us that it is the truth. So our attention fixates on what does not work, what we don't have, and our State of Mind Perception becomes material - the worldview - forgetting that we have the keys to unlock the doors of this prison.
It's as if we were standing in a glorious room filled with light and in a small corner there is a black dot. We focus on that black dot, hypnotized by it, and soon the room disappears from our perception.
The solution is so simple and easy that we don't do it. All we have to do is change our point of view and state of mind. This is not will power, optimism, belief or faith. It requires no training, special intelligence or time frame. It is a moment-by-moment choice. Now standing in that room filled with light we focus only on the light and the black dot disappears.
But what about results I hear? Now see, this is the worldview entering into this conversation. The worldview always needs to know that there will be results - measurable results, results that fulfills goals, results that give us what we want.
There will be results because all that we experience is a direct result of our perceptions, all of it, every bit, nothing left out. Which perceptions do you like best, the worldview or Love's view? No amount of visualization and hard work could produce the abundant results that comes from simply constantly choosing the Spiritual Perception that all there Is - is Infinite Divine Love, Intelligent Mind underlying and overlying and encompassing all. I AM. That's it.
The keys have been with us all along. Let's use them, shall we?
