A Heart Like Mine
Thought I had it all together
Genuine smiles and happiness
Worked real hard to stand on my own.
But a song plays, the scent of a cologne appears
A happy couple strolls by, or even the weather outside
Allows memories of past loves,
Past mistakes, to haunt me again.
Tears fall and the fear of loneliness flows in
Look out there...
There must be another heart like mine,
Somewhere.
In earlier times, anyone would do
Just to be close to someone
But after years of hurt and pain
A guarded heart solely survives.
