Even on the spiritual path, things are not always rosy. Can we tell when we are on the right path…I believe we can but I think what is so important to remember is that we all experience moments, days, perhaps even weeks when doubt crowds into our mind and there will also be times when we will encounter obstacles.
We may lose people we hold love and things we hold dear. Life may get complicated and difficult, and then we sometimes wonder...are we on the right path? or Why is this happening?
For some reason, we often think that God/Creator should miraculously change things, make them right, fix what is not working for us, or at the very least make things better. But life is a process… growing and outgrowing and if life is going to work, we must give ourselves permission to grow, understanding there are no guarantees.
Sometimes we tend to hold on to what is old, worn out, and unproductive because we are afraid, or cannot see the "good" around the corner, so we drag the excess “baggage” along with us. This of course delays what is meant to unfold.
Perhaps if we were to ask the Creator "Am I on the right path the answer might be something like this:
My Dear Child
I have heard your pleas for my help. You have asked Me, "What should I do?" You have also asked "Why things never go the way you expect?" So often I hear you ask, "Am I on the right path?" “And when I hear you ask these things, I answer but you do not listen. You look everywhere before you come to Me. You grab hold of things and push me away and then believe I deserted you. I have never left your side, but you, have often run from Me.
The path you seek lies before you where love, unlimited abundance and peace wait. I want to develop a partnership with you. Together we can co-author your life. Are you ready to trust Me even though you cannot see Me? To find Me, it is enough to call Me but you must open your heart and let Me in. In the midst of your fear, seek My strength and it will be given. When your burdens and trials overwhelm you, give them to Me…I always know what to do with them. And all I ask is that you climb your mountain of uncertainty and fear, one step at a time…one day at a time…Knowing I am beside you all the way…and when you reach the top, I will be waiting...Your Loving Father”
