    Life Flows in Different Ways

We long to make life easy for ourselves and for those we love. We strive to give the best to our children; we strive to alter circumstances to fit our personal view of the best life. We determine to control the surrounding environment with the expectation of optimum results in the lives of our family. We want; we demand; we will not accept less.

"People can learn to study their life force in the same way that a master gardener studies a rosebush. No gardener ever made a rose. When its needs are met a rosebush will make roses. Gardeners collaborate and provide conditions which favor this outcome. And as anyone who has ever pruned a rosebush knows, life flows through every rosebush in a slightly different way." --Rachel Naomi Remen

We are gardeners--we can collaborate and provide favorable conditions--but we cannot make it easy. Just as a rosebush which is never pruned fails to realize its potential beauty, the human being who never faces adversity is weakened and fails to grow into all they are capable of being.

And thus our Heavenly Father looks at us and brings into our lives precisely what is needed to make our life flow. Unfortunately, we also have to deal with negative forces attempting to counter our development as well as our own choices which may be all wrong for our maximum potential growth. Together, the pressures these three conflicting forces exert make for difficulties which we handle in our own lives more successfully than we deal with in the lives of our children.

What is set up as a result of these different forces is a scenario in which we are tempted to take control ourselves and, even worse, to pray incorrectly. We may believe we know what is best--believe me, we don't!! This is when we must pray "God's Will be done" as we are tempted to try to make everything too easy and the correct flow of the life force is handicapped.

May God be with our enemies, our friends, our family and ourselves. Amen.
