When God Took Care of Me

Our city is in the midst of a property tax revolt, four of the children on my street are presently homeless, a teenager needed to talk about her decision to write God off after the death of her friend, I'm late for an important meeting creating a governance board for a new entity when Tim calls and says, "Let's pray--Now..."

    "Right now!?!"

Tim does not live on Churchman Avenue but, through the spirit, he had felt the dangers surrounding the young people, relating , as he spoke, the extreme perils facing the kids. The children spend most of their time in the street during the hot summer months. Until just recently, the people in the drug house have ignored them--unfortunately, that seems to be changing since so many of the kids are preteens, since they are picking up pocket change here and there, and since our police force is greatly diminished.

Tim referred to the Biblical saga of Job's trials and how the young must be protected in order for them to have an opportunity to experience God. If these children never have an opportunity to experience God's mercy, they will never know what God has to offer to them:

Job 29:2 "I long for the years gone by
when God took care of me,
3 when he lit up the way before me
and I walked safely through the darkness.
4 When I was in my prime,
God’s friendship was felt in my home.
5 The Almighty was still with me,
and my children were around me.
6 My cows produced milk in abundance,
and my groves poured out streams of olive oil." (NIV)

No longer was I concerned about the meeting. It did not matter. Tim began to pray for protection for the children and all was peaceful--as if the issues I've described above had been removed.

I love knowing God will take care of you and me and all who call upon His name.
