Our Arms are Too Short to Box with God

We find ourselves debating with God over some issue with which we are not in agreement. It may be that we have been misinformed or that we have misunderstood the real intent of the Scripture's statements about a particular issue. On the other hand, God may be commanding us to do something which is not in line with our chosen lifestyle. We are faced with a choice of surrendering to the truth which is being conveyed through our spirit or we can choose to argue, explain, justify, or dismiss what we know is truth.

Many are those who have decided God is OK with his children debating and arguing with him, but I cannot find anything written by the great scholars which condones that reasoning. If God said it, then that's the way it is. "Truth has no special time of its own. Its hour is now—always." --Albert Schweitzer

A prophet who wanders the United States, following God's lead like the three wise men followed the star, stops by occasionally. He says God has told him, "You can't box with God--your arms are too short."

"We ought not to let ourselves be satisfied with the God we thought of, for when the thought slips our mind, that God slips with it. What we want is rather the reality of God, exalted far above any thought or creature." --Meister Eckhart
