God's Word is an indispensable weapon

Someone voiced concern that I might be getting discouraged while facing so much pain and seeing no reward. It caught me by surprise because I've never established expectations--no five-year plan here. Yet, when the news arrived that one of my Churchman Ave. kids had received 18 months of jail time, that concerned voice was the first thing to echo in my head. Well, yeah, it would be to the devil's advantage to build upon any destructive seed.

As I take extra time today to examine the multiple nuances of the situation, I know the only reliable source of counsel is God himself. I went to www.biblegateway.com where it's easy to search multiple versions of the Bible simultaneously. Ever so quickly, in His Word, I found:

Ephesians 6:13-18 "Be prepared. You're up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it's all over but the shouting you'll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You'll need them throughout your life. God's Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other's spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out." --The Message

This is certainly applicable to the situation and did you notice how it doesn't issue any goals, expectations, or minimum requirements while at the same time putting everything on the line.

    *Be prepared
*God's Word is an indispensable weapon
    *Prayer is essential
    *Keep your eyes open
    *Keep each other's spirits up

"The danger with us is that we want to water down the things that Jesus says and make them mean something in accordance with common sense; if it were only common sense, it was not worth while for Him to say it. The things Jesus says about prayer are supernatural revelations." --Oswald Chambers
